This page is a collection of statements from Wikipedians that I've come across and wanted to preserve for one reason or another. Some are well-phrased summations of an idea, others amusing. If you stumble upon this page (probably through Recent Changes, as I'm not advertising it anywhere), enjoy.

Oh, and if you can't tell, I do spend a fair amount of time on VfD. You get some of the best quotes from there.

From VfD -- "Delete, not notable, and as with other such truck, it is incumbent upon the original author to provide sufficient content to justify an article on obscure subjects." UninvitedCompany

From VfD -- "A single article could cover all of the actual substance of most articles on schools, including this one. There's nothing here that provides it with any meaningful separation from any other middle school. Take out the utterly generic bits and you're left with an address, the name of the principal, and two sentences on where it got its uninspired name." -- Cyrius|

From VfD -- "I didn't realize quite how strange the world is until I found Wikipedia." Ianb

From a VfD discussion where the sub-stub in question was about an alias of a Mossad agent -- "Delete, I can't verify this." -- Cyrius|

From VfD -- "Started by 'god', eh? Non-notable, vanity, advertisement, substub. Why does this article still exist? Delete." --Ardonik

From the block log --

From the deletion log --

From Wikipedia:Votes_for_deletion/Mishing --

  • "The result of the debate was deleted with a very large axe." -- Cyrius|

From Talk:National University of San Marcos:

  • "Wikipedia is based on an elaborate structure of agreed-upon conventions for the sake of unity and consistency... We can't have editors unilaterally insisting on their own way of doing things. Wikipedia may be a "free" encyclopedia, but with that freedom comes a certain responsibility, and that is to respect its fundamental collaborative spirit of the project. In other words, Wikipedia is "free" in the sense that anyone may contribute, but it is not free in the sense that a user is at libety to contribute anything; contributions, no matter how insignificant, must adhere to our editorial standards..." -- User:Viajero 10:31, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)
